THE IVth SUMMER GAMES
  • The 1908 Games were awarded to the City of Rome June 22, 1904, final day of the 7th Session of the IOC to London.
  • The Promotion Committee of Rome also prepares the sports program that included 21 specialties but we never spoke of an exact date.
  • Letters of invitation to participate were never delivered.
  • The committee responsible for organizing meets only twice: November 27, 1905 and January 27, 1906, on this occasion we took note that it was not possible to organize the Games because the Italian refused to Gouvernememnt financial contribution required due to the eruption of Vesuvius.
  • Also in 1906, De Coubertin, advised of these organizational difficulties, sent to IOC members communicating the need to move the Rome Games in London.
