THE VIIIth SUMMER GAMES

For the second time, in 1924, Paris was awarded the right to host the Olympic Games. It was a way of remembering that thirty years earlier at the Sorbonne a Congress had decided to renovate the ancient games, a way of paying tribute to Pierre de Coubertin who had just announced his intention to leave the presidency of the I.O. It was ignored, in France, until the first days of 1922 when the 1924 Games would be played. It has only been known since June 7, 1923 that they will definitely take place in Paris. Before then, U.S. managers were already preparing the athletes who will represent the Star-Spangled Flag.
