THE XIth SUMMER GAMES

Berlin had been awarded the right to host the 1916 Games, but due to the events they could not take place. In 1931, the I.O.C. granted this city the honour of organising the Games of the XI Olympiad, which Barcelona also coveted. In 1933, violent campaigns were waged to demand the transfer of the Games or to advocate a boycott of them.
