THE XVIth SUMMER EQUESTRIAN GAMES Torche

For the first time, the games were to be held in the southern hemisphere, but the Australian Olympic Committee belatedly revealed that it was unable to hold the equestrian events due to a quarantine law prohibiting the importation of foreign horses. In 1953 in Mexico City, the I.O.C. decided to transfer equestrian competitions to Stockholm on an exceptional basis.
